The client had a large operations team. They have been working in the online data visualization software market for 10+ years and cooperate with market giants such as General Motors, General Electric, and Walmart. They were looking for a highly specialized company with extensive experience in designing and developing complex web applications to extend their team.

We began by diving into research on their enterprise product, bringing our experience with modern technologies to their company.

Dashboard builder for crafting custom dashboards for the users' needs;

User flow for connecting multiple datasets for online data visualization tool;

A set of widgets for data layers editing and customization on maps;

Map editor and controls panel;

Solution

We've built a powerful product that meets most of the data visualization needs of various enterprises, from geo-location mapping to report generation and analytics. We have deeply analyzed the best industry data analysis and visualization software that had a part of similar features: Carto, Mapbox, and Aspectum.

At the core of the product is a system for creating visualization layers on the map, customizable through various widgets. By following a multi-step UX/UI design process, hypothesis testing, and user testing, we turned complex workflows into simple, user-friendly data visualization SaasS app. We have also created a set of ready-made templates for the most popular use cases, with a step-by-step configuration wizard.

We used React.js and Storybook to create a custom frontend UI library and connected it with the client's backend using Redux and Next.js.

The main stages of development were focused on architecture design and code quality control. Handling large data volumes across multiple sources, our engineers optimized the software for data visualization for high performance and low response times for continuous and comfortable work with the product.
